We plan months on end to make this big day perfect. People spend over thousands of dollars on average to make this day everything they ever dreamt of and more... the wedding industry alone is estimated to be worth over $53 billion (can you believe that?! WOW)
To make sure this day runs as smoothly as possible, we have curated a list of advice and tips we thought might be helpful to let you know what to expect, and hopefully help one feel calm throughout the day as well...
- Ask the caterers to pack a meal for the two of you to eat later, and cake too
- Designate a bathroom buddy
- If you're wearing something strapless, try not to wear a bra earlier in the day to avoid leaving marks
- Pause to take mental notes throughout the day, and try to be as present as possible
- Don't starve yourself! Please remember to stay hydrated and snack throughout the day
- If you're not sure you will get to eat throughout the day, please make sure to eat a filling and nutritious breakfast - breakfast is the most important meal of the day!
- If you bought new shoes for the big day (as most people do), make sure to break them in ahead of time and practice walking around in them
- Make sure to have a wedding day survival kit! Here are some suggestions of items you may want to include:
- copy of wedding day itinerary
- contact info of all vendors (email + phone numbers)
- gum or breath mints
- pain killer
- eye drops
- nail file
- small scissors
- tissues
- lotion
- hair pins
- safety pins
- tweezer
- floss
- comb
- lint roller
- super glue
- hand sanitizer
- mini size fragrance or rollerball
- band-aids
- eyelash glue
- wet wipes
- cell phone charger
- clear nail polish
- deodorant
- stain remover pen
- Take some selfies if you can
- Try to surround yourself with a calming inner circle
- Have a designated person who holds on to your phone - make sure it is someone who can answer calls and respond to messages similar to the way you would, someone who is responsible, and someone you completely trust
- Try to do some light stretching in the morning or right before you walk down the aisle, and breathing exercises
- Appoint someone to save you from overly chatty guests
- Make sure you have plenty of time to get ready comfortably with no rush
- Try to have a relaxed attitude and remember why you're there
- Try to make some time to get couples photos alone in the main hall or outside of the venue if possible
- Appoint someone to make sure the event is running on time as planned, according to the itinerary (this person might be best suitable to emcee the event as well)
