So far, we've taken you behind the scenes of Aaya's birthday cake smash, and her parents anniversary portrait session as well. You've all gotten to see this beautiful family up close and personally, maybe even felt acquainted with them, and learned things about them along the way. Today, we take you behind the scenes of their daughter, Aaya's first birthday party and Aqeeqah.
For those of you not familiar with Islam, an "Aqeeqah" is the religious tradition of the sacrifice of an animal on the occasion of a child's birth. It is common for Muslim families to combine the first birthday party and Aqeeqah as one celebration together.
Playing off of the sunflower theme in the cake smash, we see the sunflower theme reoccurring once again at this birthday party. Since this birthday took place in September, it felt completely appropriate at the time with the warm weather and sunshine upon us. The day of the party was a bright and sunny day. Behind the venue, we discovered a sort of hidden pond that also made for a few great snapshots.
All the details that went into this party were so beautiful beyond words! Sejuti really did an amazing job keeping everything relevant to the theme, but still keeping it looking elegant and sophisticated. Not only did she make the party look amazing, but she looked amazing herself as well! We were so lucky to have had a comfortable amount of time to really capture all the decorations and details in all their glory to share with you guys.
Once everything was setup, we followed along Sejuti and Nayeem's creative lead and took some family portraits of them outdoors. We found a gazebo nearby the venue which made for amazing photos! Aaya was (MashAllah) so cooperative the entire time, although she did get distracted here and there by birds, bugs, butterflies and passerby's. Every so often, we had to call someone to help get Aaya's attention, and her little teddy bear toy was a huge help as well.
We made our way back inside as more friends and family started arriving to the celebration, so we could get some group photos of them with the birthday girl. She was so well-behaved throughout this entire process, so many kids really hate this part but Aaya held it together so well!
Once all the guests arrived, food was open and sweets were served to celebrate the lovely Aaya. Everyone was mingling, catching up with one another, taking photos, and just having a good time. Aaya got to play with her cousins and friends, and to cut her sunflower cake! It had taken place in the morning, so the natural light made for such pretty and airy looking photos!
We hope you enjoyed this journey with Aaya and her parents, Sejuti and Nayeem. They are a lovely family who deserve all the blessings in this life and in the hereafter. This was such a beautiful party, it was an honor to be able to photograph such a pretty event! Let us know if you would like to see more collaborations with Aaya, Sejuti and Nayeem :-) 'til next time!
